The Lymington Society
The Lymington Society is what is know as an Amenity Society or Civic Trust and was set up in 1966 by the same people that set up the Lymington Community Association to help protect the special character of the beautiful town of Lymington and to provide a forum for local people to raise and discuss important issues in the town.
Often referred to as a “planning watchdog”, the Society scrutinises planning applications and makes objections when necessary to ty and preserve the character of the town, whilst recognising that new developments is necessary to keep the town up to date and to provide the facilities and housing that the town needs.
We regularly take part in consultations run by local councils to represent the views of our members and the local community. We also organise an interesting programme of talks and social occasions for our members and their guests.
New members are always welcome and can apply on our website at www.lymsoc.co.uk
