About Us

Lymington Centre Pre-School is a vibrant welcoming setting located in the heart of Lymington within Lymington Community Centre. Offering flexible childcare for children aged two to rising fives, where families can adapt their child’s sessions to fit their schedules. The setting is owned by the Lymington Community Association who have been providing childcare since the 1960’s.

Health & Wellbeing

We have baking, cooking and food tasting sessions for children to learn, make and get excited about food, using our fully fitted kitchen. Children will get involved in the whole cooking process and learn skills such as mixing, kneading, chopping and pouring all with close support, to encourage and develop the skills of independence.

To support Public Health England’s recommendation, and ‘Saving Smiles’ we are incredibly pleased to offer a tooth brushing programme, which is offered to all children, with parents’ consent after the first term.

We also have Yoga and exercise sessions, which has many benefits for children such as helping to increase balance, coordination, and core strength. It can also aid relaxation and promote a sense of achievement. Helping children to have more confidence and self-esteem as well as problem-solving.

Community Helpers

As the setting is part of Lymington Community Centre, we believe in Community. Our children learn about the wider world around them through fostering relationships with their local community. They learn about where they fit in and begin to understand the value of having local services, about community spirit and respect for their environment.

Our children go on walks in our local environment; they have been litter picking to learn how to care about their community. They visit the local shops to buy their own fruit, and vegetables. They also visit the Opticians, Shoe Shop, Book Shop, Library, Café, and local Cinema. The children also have visits from people who help us such as the community support officers, Police, Fire Fighters, Doctors, Nurses, and the Dentist.

Early Talk Boost

At the setting we use different educational programmes to support our children’s learning. One of these programmes is Early Talk Boost which is aimed at three and four year old children who need help with talking and understanding words. Most importantly, the programme helps to boost their language skills to narrow the gap between them and their peers. The programme aims to accelerate children’s progress in language and communication by an average of 5 months after 9 weeks.

Intergenerational Care

As part of our community involvement, we take part in an Intergenerational Care project with one of our local care homes. This is where our children visit the residents in the care home to socialise and participate in activities together. Such as arts and crafts, reading books, sing-songs and dancing, imaginative play, reminiscing and telling stories and celebrating festivals together.

Intergenerational activities take place to enhance the quality of life for residents in care homes but also has benefits for children. This interaction promotes empathy, understanding, exchange of knowledge and experiences, creating meaningful connections and enhancing the quality of life for everyone involved!

Home From Home

Children’s social and emotional development is shaped by their early experiences and relationships incorporating elements of equality, British and Universal values. We create an ethos of inclusivity, where views, faiths, cultures and races are valued and where children engage with the wider community. We also believe that children of different ages mix as they would do in their own home therefore, all our children are together in one room and garden.

Meet the Team

Our passionate, enthusiastic degree lead team plan responsively, in the moment, keeping the children’s unique interests at the heart of everything they do. Presenting the children with endless opportunities, expanding their play experiences, empowering and uplifting them to grow in confidence; to learn, develop, explore, be engaged, and challenged but, most of all, flourish and succeed, within our happy, supportive and secure environment.
